Моя мать готовит вкусную еду: индейку, сладкий картофель и пирог из тыквы. Я очень люблю этот пирог. Мы долго едим и разговариваем. Потом мужчины смотрят телевизор, а мать и сестры моют посуду.

  • On Saturday I got up at 9:00 AM. I love to sleep in on my days off. Then I had breakfast. I had a cheese sandwich and drank a cup of coffee. I love drinking coffee for breakfast. On my days off I eat very little. Then I went to the city. I bought groceries there. I came back from the store at 1 o’clock and ate some soup. My wife made it. Then my wife and I went to the beach. The weather wasn’t very hot. We walk along the beach and watched the ocean waves. There were a lot of people at the beach. No one was swimming. Even in the summer the water in the Monterey Bay is cold. Then it got cold. We decided to go home. I watched football all evening.

  • As usual, on Saturday I got up at 9:00 AM. Frankly speaking, I love to sleep in on my days off. Then I had breakfast. I had a cheese sandwich and drank a cup of coffee. By the way, I love drinking coffee for breakfast. Usually on my days off I eat very little. When I finished breakfast, I went to the city in order to buy groceries. I came back from the store at 1 o’clock and ate some soup, which my wife had made. As soon as I finished eating, my wife and I went to the beach. Although the weather wasn’t very hot. We walk along the beach and watched the ocean waves. Unfortunately, there were a lot of people at the beach, however, no one was swimming, because even in the summer the water in the Monterey Bay is cold. Unfortunately, it soon got chilly, therefore, we decided to go home, where I, as a Saturday ritual, watched football all evening.

Reporting Current Events (English Translation)

  • At least 10 people died on Thursday as a result of explosions in the center of Baghdad. Four of the victims were American specialists. More than 20 people were wounded, including employees of the US Embassy. The extremist group “Tauhil val Jihad” who is connected to Abu Musab al-Zarkawi took responsibility for the terrorist act, carried out by two suicide bombers. Additionally, on Thursday in the Iraqi capital one American soldier was killed and two were wounded as a result of a roadside mine explosion.

  • On Thursday in the center of Baghdad an explosion occurred. 10 people died, including 4 American specialists. 20 people were wounded. Terrorists from the group “Tauhil val Jihad” carried out the explosion. Also on Thursday terrorists in Baghdad blew up a mine. One American soldier was killed and 2 others were wounded.

Conclusions/Findings

  • Expectations for the requirements for Advanced-Level Speaking are given early in the course. (i.e. text type, structural control/cohesion, delivery and enhanced understanding through conscious-raising activities).

  • Exercises can be used for tailored, individualized practice sessions.

  • Techniques are applicable for all languages.

  • 4. Students are engaged actively in learner-centered experiences during hands-on activities.

  • 5. Immediate feedback seeing the difference in speech samples.

  • Students become aware of progress, thus serving a motivating role.

  • These exercises should be utilized in all PEP classes to achieve level 2.

  • 8. Using format and structure through a simplify-and-render method is a tool for narrating about current events.
